Making my New Romantic trousers

.) I drew my pattern straight onto the calico for these trousers. I made them large at the top, but tight fitting at the bottom.

.) I overlocked the edges.

.) Then the legs together and pressed open the seams.

.) I Then sewed together the crotch seam. It's important to sew the leg together first to avoid bulk when the seams meet at the bottom of the crotch.

.) Press the seams out.

.) For detailing, I added small darts to the front of the trousers.

.) This is the inside of the darts. I then sewed the waistband on.

.) I added the waistband with a layer of calico to strengthen it.

.) I then hand sewed the second side of the waistband to the trousers, but waiting until after my fitting incase anything needed to change.

.) I pressed my trouser in the middle and ironed the waistband flat. (They look huge, but im adding a pull in at the back)

.) I added a pleat at the back for detailing.

.) During the fitting, I marked with a strip of calico, where my ties would be.

.) I didn't take many photos at this stage, but I have added to strips at the back, one will have a buckle on it, the other will pull through to tighten the trousers at the back but create a interesting feature.

.) The trousers don't look great in this photo because the waistband isn't sewn in, but here I marking the hem of the trousers.

.) With the extra fabric I had cut at the bottom of the trousers, I folder one side back, and pinned it in place. The is where the buttons will go.

.) I marked out the hem and sewed it.

.) I then Added a strip of calico to the inside flap, as I will be sewing my button holes here and need it for strength.

.) I stitched down the flap on the right hand side, and sewed my button holes.

.) I then sewed my buttons on, making sure they didn't pull the fabric when in the button holes.

.) Finished.

.) I then added beaded detailing to the end point of the darts.

.) Finished!
